Website Launch Checklist

Go through every section before you switch the site live, and again on launch day.

01Content

Proofread every page for spelling, names, prices and contact details.
Remove all placeholder text and test images.
Check every image has alt text.
Confirm all links work and open where expected.
Make sure every page has one clear call to action.

02Technical

Enable HTTPS on the whole site.
Set up permanent redirects from old addresses.
Create a friendly custom 404 page.
Add a favicon and social sharing image.
Test the site in the main browsers and on real phones.
Check page speed and Core Web Vitals.
Set up automatic backups and confirm a restore works.

03SEO

Give every page a unique title and meta description.
Add a canonical tag to each page.
Publish robots.txt and an XML sitemap.
Remove any noindex setting left over from staging.
Verify the site in Google Search Console and submit the sitemap.
Add structured data for your business.
Claim or update your Google Business Profile.

04Tracking

Install analytics and confirm it records visits.
Set up conversion tracking for forms, calls and purchases.
Tag campaign links with UTM parameters.
Test that form notifications reach the right inbox.

05Legal and privacy

Publish a privacy policy that matches what you actually collect.
Add terms and conditions where they apply.
Add a cookie notice and load optional analytics only after consent.
Include consent wording on forms that collect marketing permission.
Check licence or credential statements are accurate.

06Accessibility and forms

Check that text has enough contrast.
Make sure the whole site can be used with a keyboard.
Label every form field.
Add spam protection to forms.
Test each form on a phone.

07After launch

Watch Search Console for crawl and indexing errors.
Fix broken links and redirect chains.
Announce the launch by email and on social channels.
Book a review one month after launch.
